Sustainment Service
You can't manage what you can't measure
Many people have seen the wonderful gains and optimism that occur during a successful kaizen, only to see those gains and practices fade and deteriorate over time. Sustainment is by far the most difficult part of any Lean practice. It is the subject of much debate in many forums, advisory panels and within corporate meeting rooms.

We believe there is of course more than one way to attack the sustainment problem: audits, cultural change, requirements setting and merit reviews etc.

The quick summary:

What happens?
-
We collect your data
-
We analyze the data
-
We report back to you
What are the benefits?
-
Sustain your gains
-
Early problem detection
-
Improved cost, quality and delivery
But at the root of it all, we believe is the necessity to establish expectations and actively monitor, analyze and reconcile the results. We believe many organizations fail in this regard because they either don't see it as the priority it needs to be, because they don't have the time and resources to gather the metrics and possibly more importantly, don't feel they have the resources to analyze the metrics.

Lean Processes offers the collection and analysis of this data as a service. We will work with you to identify the crucial metrics, how that data will be reported and how we will collect the data, analyze it and report back to you. Early detection of deteriorating trends will allow for early countermeasures to be taken and ultimately to help sustain your gains and even improve upon them. This service is intended to lessen the burden on your operations and provide expertise in data analysis.

To keep the burden down, collection of the data can be easily done by digital camera with wi-fi as an example. The wi-fi card can be set to upload to a Drop Box automatically to eliminate the need for downloading and attaching to emails. We can help to set this up for remote data collection by Lean Processes for rapid analysis and inquiry while the information remains fresh. The goal is to identify the reasons for under-performance not for punitive purposes, but to be able to identify problems, measure the magnitude of the problem and be able to make decisions regarding what priority those problems should take. It will also assist in measuring the return on investment of proposed solutions as well.
